Spotlight on ... JaDawn Christian,
Hyatt Regency Islandia
JaDawn Christian

Her warm personality has made Hyatt Meeting ConciergeTM JaDawn Christian a popular employee at Hyatt and a hit with meeting planners. "JaDawn is very outgoing, and she has a great sense of humor,'' says Banquet Manager Julie Knox. "She instantly makes planners feel welcome and comfortable here.''

What sparked your interest in the industry? As a child, my family enjoyed traveling. In fact, we often stayed at Hyatt properties. These family trips led me to fall in love with the business.

What is your hotel's best asset? Our wonderful location in the heart of Mission Bay Park. Meeting planners love our breathtaking views and picturesque surroundings, as well as our mild climate. In addition, we're fortunate to have an extremely dedicated staff focused on providing exceptional customer service.

What is the most unusual request you've received, and how did you resolve it? One group that specializes in ongoing medical education had planned to include a presentation that involved dissecting human livers — one problem, however, was that the livers never arrived! My group went out and purchased seven pounds of beef liver and had it ready in time for their meeting.

What's new at your hotel? First and foremost, we've added "Regency" to our name, which means we now provide signature services and facilities. One of these is our new Mission Ballroom, which adds 10,000 square feet of meeting space to the hotel. We've also made over a million dollars worth of upgrades, enhancements and renovations to our guestrooms and public areas. And, your group can now take advantage of our massage therapy center and high-speed Internet access.

What do you do in your spare time? In addition to the hospitality industry, acting is my passion.
