Automobile trends

photo of a sports utility vehicleI f you wanted to keep up with every innovation in the automobile industry, you'd have to make it a full-time job. From in-dash televisions to electric engines, the automobile industry continues to improve our driving experience. Here are just a few innovations on the horizon:

Say it loud
Visteon Voice Technology will soon allow drivers to control audio, climate and even access email using voice recognition software. Now available in Jaguars, the system will soon be available in other cars.

Researchers are working on a system to improve night visibility for drivers. Also using Visteon Voice Technology, drivers will control a near-infrared camera which will project the road scene onto the windshield.

Future engines
Scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory are working on a revolutionary, energy-efficient engine without moving parts.

With these and other innovations, driving in the new millennium will be very different!
