C
Thumbprint heck fraud has become one of the fastest growing forms of crime affecting banks and their customers. In a statewide effort to combat crime and protect our customers, LaSalle has joined other major Chicago area banks in the Thumbprint Signature Program sponsored by the Illinois Bankers Association. This program was designed to help stop criminals from committing check fraud.

Beginning September 14, 1998, non-LaSalle customers who wish to cash a check drawn on a LaSalle account will be asked to apply their thumbprint on the check as an additional means of identification. This thumbprint will not only act as a deterrent for criminal activity, but it will also be used by law enforcement agencies if a fraud does occur. This process will not affect LaSalle customers who wish to cash a check at a LaSalle branch. The Thumbprint Signature Program is our way of sending a clear message to criminals that LaSalle will protect their customers and will not tolerate check fraud. end of article
